Letter from the Editor

To our readers,

The landscape of our local community has changed dramatically over the last two years. And perhaps no industry has experienced more turbulence and upheaval than that of food.

We have seen so many local businesses forced to shutter their doors and say goodbye to communities they’ve served for decades. We all remember Peter’s Market in Weston, who among others fought hard to stay open to serve their faithful customers, but ultimately weren’t able to weather the economic impact of this pandemic. Given this, I wanted to create a space dedicated to promoting our local restaurant economy, a space where my peers can share news and stories regarding anything and everything related to the local food community. I believe that we all need to do our part to support our local businesses — including teens and young adults.

These articles will be written by students, for students. We will cover everything from news regarding trends in the restaurant industry, food reviews, “best of’s,” to special promotions targeted at our young adult readers.

A special section, our favorite section, is the blog series called Pandemic Five Star Awards. This posts will recognize particular restaurants around town that went above and beyond to serve their customers. While we will be honoring our individual family’s favorites, we know there are so many more. Please let us know your favorites, and we would be happy to feature them as well.

We welcome involvement from all students and community members. We would love for this to be an interactive space for peers who love good writing and good food. If you have an idea, please share it, we’d love to hear.

Letter from the Managing Editor

Dear Readers,

A full year has gone by since we came up with the idea to create this website.

Unfortunately, the food industry is still suffering the upheaval from the pandemic.  Restaurant owners still face tremendous challenges operating their businesses.  Between labor shortages and supply and food chain issues, restaurants are still struggling.

We want to continue supporting and promoting restaurants in our local community.   Please let us know if you want any restaurants you would like to be featured or if you have any thoughts you would like shared.  We welcome your ideas!
