Gruel Britannia, a small and quirky British restaurant located on the Post Road in Fairfield, is most definitely a “splurge-worthy” place to visit this summer. With its homely environment and variety of meal choices, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Located on the outside of the restaurant, there is a red phone booth identical to those you would see in England. This not only helps to set the theme of the restaurant, but adds creativity and quirkiness. What really pulls customers into the British fantasy itself though, are the British flags hung upon the walls as you enter, as well as the various displayed options of British candies and snacks.

Charlotte, a waitress at the restaurant, credits the Gruel Britannia for its creativity and special environment. “The entire atmosphere is a little bit unique, it's obviously very british,” she said, “you learn a lot when you're eating here.”

Not only is the environment special, but the cost of the food is generally not overly expensive for the quality of the meals. So, customers are able to order a lot of quality food and be satisfied with what they have received, as well as what they have spent.

Sasha Weisman ’23 said that she was greatly satisfied with the prices and experience she found at Gruel Britannia.

“I really enjoyed my time at Gruel Britannia,” Weisman said, “the food was great and at a good price, for example the loaded scone was only $6, and was well worth the money.”

Overall, the experience and nature of the restaurant is what has been so alluring to customers in Fairfield and beyond, granting the Gruel Britannia the reputation of being a “splurge-worthy” restaurant for families everywhere to visit this summer.
